The Complexities of Complex Trauma, Dissociation, and EMDR Therapy (2024 EMDR Virtual Seminar)
This two-day virtual seminar will explore rarely covered terrain in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociation using EMDR therapy. On Day 1, for the first time ever—anywhere—Jennifer Madere and D. Michael Coy will devote a full day to a critical examination and discussion of standards of practice and ethical considerations specific to using EMDR therapy with more complex clients, with illustrative case examples. The seminar will feature a (re)introduction to Maureen Kitchur’s Strategic Developmental Model, an invaluable but oft-overlooked brief-treatment framework for employing EMDR therapy with clients with complex trauma, presented by psychiatrist and longtime EMDR therapy practitioner and EMDRIA Approved Consultant Marilyn Korzekwa, MD. They will continue with a discussion of critical ‘gaps’ in knowledge, understanding, and skills that EMDR practitioners frequently discover only after they have completed basic training in EMDR therapy, but which can have a profound impact on treatment outcomes. The seminar will conclude with an ‘episode’ of ISSTD’s well-received Ask the Expert series, featuring participant questions explored in depth by the weekend’s presenters.
All participants must have completed or be currently enrolled in an EMDRIA-approved Basic Training (or international equivalent) to participate in this seminar. All participants will be asked to provide the dates of their training, training instructor and location of training during the registration process.
This package was originally presented as a live virtual seminar in July 2024.
