100 ASCH Level I (Fundamentals) Training in Clinical Hypnosis

This Level I training in clinical hypnosis will provide trainees with a solid understanding of the concepts, principles and processes of hypnosis. Experienced, ASCH-certified, approved consultant faculty will offer a mix of didactic presentations, demonstrations, experiential exercises, and faculty-led small group practices to facilitate a fundamental understanding of clinical hypnosis and its integration into clinical practice.

At the completion of the training, trainees will have been taught the knowledge and skills to begin the application of clinical hypnosis strategies in the treatment of their patients. Specifically, trainees will be able to identify and demonstrate at least three ways to facilitate hypnotic trance and to appropriately re-orient a patient from trance state, demonstrate at least three strategies for facilitating intensification of trance, and describe at least four clinical conditions in which hypnotic strategies might be successfully utilized. Trainees will have been introduced to clinical hypnosis as a neurophysiological phenomenon, a mental state of absorption implicated in neuroplasticity and change, as well as a creative clinical skill of relationship development in the service of collaboratively facilitating mental and physical health.

Upon successful completion of this Level I training in clinical hypnosis, trainees will be eligible for ASCH membership as well as for participation in Level II (Intermediate) and Advanced Level ASCH or ASCH approved workshops.

Training Staff

Reinhild Draeger-Muenke, PsyD, LMFT, is a licensed psychologist and licensed family therapist in Private Practice in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. She provides trauma informed psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families across the life span, consultation and training nationally and internationally. She is a certified ASCH approved consultant in clinical hypnosis, past ASCH Moderator, past co-chair and member of the ASCH Education Committee, and has served as chair and faculty of regional and annual ASCH conferences. She has been an active member of the Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis and has served as their President. She is an active member of ISSTD and has chaired the training in clinical hypnosis at ISSTD since 2014.

Wendy Lemke, MS, LP is a licensed psychologist at Lemke Counseling & Consulting.  She also serves as adjunct faculty for St. Cloud Technical Community College in MN. She has expertise in the fields of clinical hypnosis, ego state therapy, and trauma related disorders. She is an American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) certified approved consultant, an active member and former Vice President of the ASCH. She is also an active member of the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis (MSCH). She is a fellow and an active member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) and is a certified therapist and trainer through Ego-State Therapy International (ESTI). She has published articles in the Journal of Trauma & Dissociation and the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. She also produced the documentary, You’re Not Crazy & You’re Not Alone: Inside the Inner World of Dissociative Identity Disorder, and has produced Self-hypnosis CD’s.

Louis F. Damis, PhD, ABPP, FASCH is a Diplomate with the American Board of Professional Psychology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology, the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is a licensed psychologist who holds ASCH Certification in Clinical Hypnosis with Consultant Status. Dr. Damis is a Past President of the Florida and Washington DC Societies of Clinical Hypnosis and has taught hypnosis for over 25 years for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.  Dr. Damis has served on the Executive Committee of ASCH and is a Prime Reviewer.  Dr. Damis works extensively with developmental trauma and attachment disorders and was recently a Guest Editor for a special issue of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis on Hypnosis and Trauma. He is an Advisory Editor for the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and has conducted research on hypnosis, trauma, persistent pain, neuropsychological functioning in medically ill individuals, aging, and psychotherapy process. Dr. Damis is a Clinical Health Psychologist who established Integrative Health Psychology, PA, in 2003 and specializes in the integration of psychophysiological, mind-body, interpersonal, and experiential therapies to promote physical, emotional, and relational wellness. He maintains a private practice along with his work as an instructor, author, and consultant.

Group Practice Facilitator

J. Gina Manlove, ACSW, LCSW, LCSW-C, LICSW is a clinical social worker with a private practice in Arlington, VA. She has provided psychotherapeutic and mental health services for over 30 years. Ms. Manlove continues her work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families as well as providing consultation in school, medical, and mental health settings.  Ms. Manlove has been an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Social Work at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA.  She has presented at professional conferences and workshops for the Virginia Department of Education, the National Association of Social Workers- Virginia, and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociative Disorders. She is certified to provide Clinical Supervision in the state of Virginia. She is also an American Society of Clinical Hypnosis Approved Consultant certified to provide professional consultation.
