Ask the Expert - Lauren Lebois

June 13, 2024

ISSTD is thrilled to launch our second Ask the Experts Series - Benefitting the Fridley Fund. Participate in a series of six 90 minute Ask the Expert virtual meet-up discussions with legends in the field of trauma and dissociation. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions to the experts in advance as well as ask questions live during each meet-up. This series is exclusively available to ISSTD Members. Discounted pricing is available for students and emerging professionals!

This series of sessions will not be recorded and is limited to 20 participants for each series. When registering for the AM or PM series, you will have access to all the sessions in that series automatically. Sessions that are not full, will open for individual session registration at $30 a session, and will open the Monday prior to the individual session.

When registering, you are selecting either the AM series of dates and times, or the PM series of dates and times. We are unable to allow substitutions of switching the AM with PM series. All funds collected for this series will benefit the Fridley Fund which defrays the cost of one training activity offered through ISSTD for students who would otherwise be unable to obtain appropriate instruction in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociation.

These sessions are for general conversation, not patient specific consultation. Please prepare general questions for the experts, and if you are seeking patient consultation time, you will need to seek that out on an individual basis.

Please note that registration for the Ask The Experts series is in ISSTD's new Online Learning Center. If you have not yet created an account on this site you will need to do so before you complete your registration. Your ISSTD Membership account will not work for the login. Please create your account using the email address you have on file with ISSTD. If you are an ISSTD member it may take up to 48 business hours for your membership status to be updated in order to provide the correct fees. If you do not see your membership status updated within 48 hours please email cfas@isst-d.org for assistance.

Lauren Lebois, PhD
Dr. Lauren Lebois is a cognitive neuroscientist who is passionate about understanding how the mind, brain, and body adapt in the aftermath of trauma.  She prioritizes translating scientific breakthroughs in accessible, compelling, and clinically-relevant ways.  Dr. Lebois is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, where she serves as the co-Director of the Dissociative Disorders and Trauma Research Program at McLean Hospital.  Dr. Lebois’ National Institute of Mental Health funded research program focuses on the neurobiology of dissociation in trauma-spectrum disorders.  Her published research analyzes the therapeutic effect of mindfulness-related treatments, the role of learning, experience, and plasticity in emotion, and the assessment of brain and behavioral correlates of dissociation.  Dr. Lebois serves as the Scientific Committee Chair for the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), and the Operations Co-Director of the Initiative for Integrated Trauma Research, Care and Training at McLean Hospital. In 2021, she was awarded McLean Hospital’s Alfred Pope Award for Young Investigators for the publication of an exceptional peer-reviewed, first-authored publication, and ISSTD’s Pierre Janet Writing Award for the best research paper in the field of dissociation and/or trauma within the past year. Recently, she also received the Morton Prince Award from ISSTD for her outstanding cumulative contributions to research on dissociative disorders. Dr. Lebois is deeply committed to using her advances in neurobiology, behavior, and treatment to reduce the stigma and improve care for individuals living with PTSD and dissociative identity disorder.
