Clone of Advanced Topics in Complex Trauma and Dissociative Disorders Live Teleseminar - Bouabjian 2022

Participants must have taken both parts of The Complexities of Complex Trauma and From Complex Trauma to Dissociative Disorders to enroll in this course.

Course Format: 8 sessions Live Teleseminar; 2.5 hour sessions each.

Meeting Time: 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM  US Eastern Time

This course consists of nine modules – six modules that make up the core of the course, and three complementary modules chosen by the instructor. Each module is “free-standing” in that it encompasses an entire topic to be covered in a single class. The core modules will be presented in the first six classes, with the three complementary left to the last three classes of the course.

1 – An Introduction to Complex Trauma and Dissociation in Children and Adolescents
2 – Depersonalization and Derealization
3 – Institutional Betrayal
4 – Psychopharmacology and Medical Consequences of Complex Trauma and Dissociative Disorders
5 – Neurobiology of Complex Trauma and Dissociative Disorders and Research Update
6 – Shame and Moral Injury and Their Roles in Complex Trauma and Dissociative Disorders

Complementary Modules
C1 – Addictions and Eating Disorders
C2 – Couples Therapy
C5 – Sexual Victimization of Boys and Men and Its Outcomes

Target Audience

Licensed mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, accredited psychotherapists, etc.) who are interested in developing their skills in treating clients with complex trauma related disorders. Students must have successfully completed From Complex Trauma to Dissociative Disorders, Parts I and II to register for this course. Students who have completed the previous “Standard Course” before 2012 must have permission from the course instructor and one of the course directors.

The course content is at the advanced level.

Sandra Bouabjian, MA
Sandra Bouabjian, MA is a licensed psychologist with a Masters in Counselling Psychology from McGill University and is in private practice in Montreal. She has been working in the field of Trauma and Dissociation for more than 15 years. Her previous experience includes working at St. Mary’s Hospital, department of psychiatry, where she first met and began treating clients with complex trauma and dissociative disorders. Since then, she has pursued her education in treating dissociative clients, by taking the ISSTD PTP courses, seeking consultation from other ISSTD therapists and attending the ISSTD conferences. 

She has been an active member of the Montreal Study Group in Trauma and Dissociation and contributes as both an organizer and a member of the group. In addition, she offers consultation and supervision to other mental health professionals working with these challenging clients. 

She is currently an instructor in the Professional Training Program (PTP) and has taught PTP courses both in person, in Montreal, and by teleseminar. She is currently the Chair of the PTP.. As well, she is an approved consultant in clinical hypnosis with ASCH and has taught in the ASCH-approved basic workshop.
