Time Effective Intervention Techniques for Crisis Management in the Treatment of Dissociative Disorders

The treatment of dissociative disorders is a complex endeavor which requires the application of specialized techniques and an understanding of an elaborate sequence of defensive behaviors. While ongoing, weekly sessions with dissociative disordered clients usually present unique and compelling treatment conditions, the intensity of these conditions magnify under emergency and crisis situations. The general nature of more extreme apprehensions and panic reactions, combined with personality disorder variations and the overall levels of confusion presented by dissociative disordered clients yields a multi- layered set of conditions that add exponentially to clients' crises. However in the midst of these turbulent presentations, many times some of the most productive treatment progress can be accomplished. This presentation will details a variety of crisis intervention techniques which can blend and match treatment goals to both manage the crisis points and also enhance treatment progress.

This session was originally presented as a live webinar in January 2020.
